Too many open tabs?

Ever see anything on Pinterest, Facebook, or Instagram, and say, "I can make that!"  Well, that's exactly what happened here.

     I saw this sign and knew, not only could I make it, but I could make it better!  So here is my rendition of this really cool sign.

So here are all the details:

I made my own background paper.  I used watercolor paper, some reinkers, and aqua painter, and a spritzer with water.  I spritzed the paper real good, then using my aqua painter, with water in it, I picked up some reinker and started to scribble - in an orderly way.  I just kept add colors until I got the effect I was looking for.  Once the paper was dry (at least 24 hours), I sprayed the whole sheet with my homemade glimmer mist (our now retired Frost Shimmer paint and rubbing alcohol).  It gave is that subtle, yet gorgeous shimmer.

I used an electronic cutter to cut out the letters - simple, yet it took some time to glue the layers together.

I then used the butterfly punches to make the butterflies and embossed them.  I also used the spiral flower die to make the 2 flowers on the bottom corner of the frame.  I cut two out per flower (the same two colors  I used with the letters).

A tip when using the Borders Scoring Plate:

     I learned something while making this card.  When you use the Borders Scoring Plate to make the fancy design at the bottom of this card, run some wax paper over the card stock before you emboss it.  It make the stylus move smoother over the paper, making it easier to stay in the groves on the board.  This gives you the flawless embossing on the bottom of your card.  Yes, I found this out by not using wax paper and not getting that flawless look, then hearing another demo say to try wax paper.  It works beautifully.  Since it's now so easy to use, I plan to use my Borders Scoring Plate more often.  It has so many designs on it you can add to any card.

Bloomin' Marvelous Candy Treat

     Valentine's Day is next week.  Can you believe that?  I still have 50 some treats to make for my boys' classroom parties next Thursday.  I guess I really need to get to work :O)

     I got the idea for this cute little treat from Dawn Olchefske.  I did change the holder - I used only one cut-out of the Two Tags die, where she used two.  I also changed up the colors.  I used my color coach to pick the colors.  I just LOVE this color combo!

   This was such a quick and simple project to make.  I made 10 in no time at all.  You can change the sentiment on the back.  I just choose one from the Bloomin' Marvelous SAB set.

Ornament Christmas Card

     The Christmas card  I made this year was a CASE of myself :O)  In this version I used a rhinestons and Dazzling Details.  This is the Christmas card I made for my co-workers.

     This card was super simple and quick to make.   Despite that, in person, it's gorgeous!

Sparkly Christmas Card

     Did you know you can add any stamped image onto any candle?

     YES you can!!!!!  HOW?????  Is what I'm sure you are asking yourself.  Well, let me tell you!

MINI TUTORIAL:  Stamped candles

     Pick your candle (a white candle is the best).  Here, I chose a tealight candle.  I think these are really easy to do.  Next, choose your stamp image.  You will need white tissue paper.  Stamp your image on the tissue paper.  Either punch out or cut out what you want on your candle (here I used a circle punch and punched out the center of an ornament stamp.  I placed the tissue paper on top of copy paper then punched it out.  I did have a little tearing, but nothing major - I bet you can't tell by looking at my candle above :O).  If you are using a tealight, use your 1/16" hand punch, and punch a tiny hole in the middle of your tissue image for the wick, and feed the wick through that little hole.  Place the tissue paper on your candle.  Using your heat tool, heat up the tissue paper and the candle.  What you end up doing is melting the candle so the tissue paper embeds into the candle.  I don't know how the candle will burn.  I'm not sure it's a good idea to burn it, but if you try it, let me know how it works for you.

     I bet you thought it would be so much harder than that!  They are so pretty and they would make such a beautiful hostess gift for all those holiday parties you will go to!

     Here is what the top of my gift looked like.  I used the same ornament stamp and the corresponding ornament punch.  I added some bling and a small tag, and voila!  A beautiful gift!

Lace Ribbon Punch Fun

Large Lace Ribbon Border Punch~122362~$19.95

     When I first saw this punch back in June (it was one of the pre-order items that demonstrators could order before anyone even saw the new items * Ask me about this if you want to get your hands on items before everyone else), I knew I'd love it, and boy do I love this punch!

NOTE: I did use some retired products on this note card

     There are so many ways to use this punch, but I love to mix it up while using it, much like I did on the border of this note card.  I had a lot of fun using this punch on this little note card I made.  See below for a FREE mini tutorial on how I did the border on this card.

MINI TUTORIAL:


     First I punched the border out of Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Next I punched it again in the coordinating color card stock.  I then cut out the center flowers of the coordinating card stock.  I used a 2-Way Glue Pen to glue the flowers down on top of the DSP border.  Last, I added large rhinestones to the middle of each flower for some bling.

Beautiful color combo

     Oh, how I love these colors together!  I saw this card while making cards with my upline.  She received it as a swap (either from Leadership or Convention - she didn't remember which).  The card I saw was made using bright colors.  I CASEd it 100% from what I saw.  The design is beautiful!  I wish I knew who to thank for the wonderful idea!  If anyone has seen this card before, and knows who's it is, please let me know so I can give him/her credit.

Thinking of You Butterfly

     This is the card that Bonnie designed for our Stampin' Dessert Night last week.  It was a very simple card to make.  A lady who never stamped before found it very easy to make this card.

     Bonnie's card didn't have the Designer Label Punch layered all the way around it.  Her's just had a simple layer on the two ends (you just punch it again, cut it in half, cut the corners off of the cut line, and layer underneath).  I experimented and using some ideas from other demos, I figured out a way to make the layer.

FREE MINI TUTORIAL

• Punch out two Designer Label Punches from the same color card stock.
• Cut one in half long ways.
• Cut the other one in half the other way.
• Trim the corners of all the edges you just cut.
• Use SNAIL adhesive, and put adhesive on the entire back of the one you designed.
• Layer it under the designed one you already have punched out:
• Put the top & bottom on first - layering out as much as you wish.
• Put the sides on - matching the layering from the top & bottom
• NOTE:  You may need to add more adhesive as you add layer to ensure that the layers stick.
• Add to your project.
