Happy Valentine's Day

Boy, did February 14th creep up on me!  I've been so focused on my broken finger, and the upcoming surgery, that the date on the calendar escaped me.

Here in northeast Pennsylvania, we got hit with winter storm Pax yesterday.  We got about 24 inches of snow, on top of many inches already on the ground.  I spent both yesterday and today at home, really enjoying a couple of snow days.  Because stamping has been very challenging due to my finger, and it's been healing nicely, and the pain is almost gone, I gave stamping a try the last two days. It was a very long process to stamp simple cards, but I enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Today, being Valentine's Day, I had to stamp a card for my valentine - my WONDERFUL hubby!

This was a very simple card and would lend itself to mass production.  I took the layout idea from various cards I saw on Pinterest and added the "LOVE"from the Expressions Thinlits Dies.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Whisper White & Strawberry Slush

INKS:  Pink Pirouette, Smokey Slate, Coastal Cabana, & Strawberry Slush

STAMPS:  Happy Watercolor & Countless Sayings 1

TOOLS & ACCESSORIES:  Big Shot, Expressions Thinlits Dies, & 2-Way Glue Pen

Bloomin' Marvelous Candy Treat

Valentine's Day is next week.  Can you believe that?  I still have 50 some treats to make for my boys' classroom parties next Thursday.  I guess I really need to get to work :O)

Are you looking for a treat that isn't all hearts, roses, and frilly?  Are you looking for something different, yet beautiful?  Well how about this idea?

front view

back view

I got the idea for this cute little treat from Dawn Olchefske.  I did change the holder - I used only one cut-out of the Two Tags die, where she used two.  I also changed up the colors.  I used my color coach to pick the colors.  I just LOVE this color combo!

This was such a quick and simple project to make.  I made 10 in no time at all.  You can change the sentiment on the back.  I just choose one from the Bloomin' Marvelous SAB set.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, & Pink Pirouette

INKS:  Sahara Sand, Bravo Burgundy, & Pink Pirouette

STAMPS:  Bloomin' Marvelous (2013 SAB set)

TOOLS:  Big Shot, Two Tags Die, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Victoria Crochet Trim Ribbon, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, & Glue Dots

CANDY:  Hershey's Mini chocolate bar

Sale-A-Bration (SAB) is in full swing!  For every $50 you spend (not including tax/ship), choose a FREE SAB item of your choice - see flyer below.  Choose the Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set I used to make the really cute candy treat above.

Two Tags Valentine Basket

Isn't this basket just too cute?  I got the idea, and tutorial, for this basket from Dawn Griffith.  I got the idea, and tutorial, for the flower on the box from Brandy Cox.  Both these ladies are just wonderful Stampin' Up! demonstrators.

The basket was made using the NEW Core-dinations paper from Stampin' Up!  I love how this Real  Red paper has a pink core when you sand it.  I can see myself using this paper for a lot of projects.

I used one of the NEW soda pop tops for the center of the flower.  I used a large one.  The cool thing about these pop tops is that you can flatten them in your Big Shot.

MINI TUTORIAL

Open all the taps on your multi-purpose platform.  Place a clear plate down.  Put up your bottle caps in the middle of the plate, with the edges down.  Place another clear plate on top and run it through your Big Shot.  That simple!

TIP:  The 1 inch circle punch will fit inside the center of the large bottle cap and the 1/2 inch punch will fit inside the small bottle cap.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Real Red Core'dinations, Regal Rose, & Silver Glimmer Paper

INK:  Real Red

STAMP:  Happy Moments (retired from 2010 SAB)

TOOLS:  Stampin' Sanding System. Soda Pop Tops, Pink Pirouette/Rose Red Two-Tone Ribbon, Blossom Punch, Little Labels Punch Pack, Small Heart Punch, Paper Snips, 4 x 6 Cellophane bag, & Silve Mini Brads - Also, Hershey Kisses

I actually gave this treat basket to a friend who hosted a Private Card Party.   I always give my hostesses a little thank you gift.  Why not schedule your own Private Card Party?

Do you like to make and give cards?  Then the My Little Valentine Bundle (132242) is for you!  You get the My Little Valentine stamp set (4 clear-mount stamps) for $9.95 and the Sealed with Love Simply Send Kit for FREE!

♥ LOVE  the stamp set in this bundle.  I haven't have an opportunity to ink them up yet, but stop back to see what I come up with!

I bought the Valentine Treat Bundle and immediately made Valentine treats for my customers.  What do you think?

I used the baby wipe technique to stamp the hearts.  It was such a fun way to customize my ink pad.

Mini Tutorial

You will need a baby wipe.  Fold it in half 2 times - it will be a square.  Put it on top of a napkin or paper towel and then put that on top of your silicone mat (or some other surface that ink can touch without damaging).  Next, take the re-inkers of your choice and place a few drops right on the baby wipe.  Make sure you put enough color on the baby wipe to cover the surface of your stamp.  Use the ink-filled baby wipe as your stamp pad.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Whisper White

INKS:  Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi, Calypso Coral

STAMP:  Happy Valentine from the Valentine Treat Bundle

TOOLS:  1x8 cello treat bags, Full Heart punch, S.NA.I.L Adhesive, Sweet Tarts candy hearts (non-SU!)

It was so easy to make.  The hardest part was deciding how to decorate the front, (which took me 3 days to decide - too many options).  I hope you like what I came up with.

INK:  Versa Mark & Cherry Cobbler

Non-Traditional Valentine with Letterpress Plate

     Non-traditional Valentine colors:

I'm really happy with this color combo.  I got the idea from Stampin' UP!'s Color Coach.  I love pink and brown together, but I really wanted to use my new Baja Breeze Glass Glitter, and came across this combo of colors.  I think it's a nice look for a Valentine's Day card.  What do you think?

The other nice thing about this card is that aside from the card base, I used all scraps to make this card.  Anther plus for those of you that are looking for ways to use your scrap paper.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, & Early Espresso

INK:  Versa Mark & Pretty In Pink

STAMPS:  Short & Sweet

TOOLS:  Big Shot, Lots of Love Letterpress Plate, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit, Full Heart Punch, Baja Breeze Glitter Glass, Tombo Mono Glue, SNAIL Adhesive

Click HERE to shop online for any of these products.

I've been really enjoying using these letterpress plates.  Stampin UP! recommends you use Craft ink and Watercolor paper.  I have found that I really like using Versa Mark ink and card stock.  I love the look it gives you.

If you would like to try out Stampin' UP!'s letterpress plates, let me know, I'd love to have you come over and give it a try!
