Thank You treat bags

I ♥ to create little gifts for everyone who attends my classes.  I don't do it every month, but it's always a surprise when I do.

This month I made everyone who attended my monthly Stampin' Nite last night one of these super cute goodie bags.

They are about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide.  They hold a snack size Hershey bar perfectly.  I got the idea from Stampin' Up!

MINI TUTORIAL:

4-1/2 X 6-1/2 Designer Series Paper

Score:
   on the long side: 1", 1-1/2", 2", 4", 4-1/2", & 5"
on the short side - 1/2 (this will be across the bottom once you are done)

Scallop cut, using the rotary cutter, the top (the side not scored).

On the bottom (where you scored it a 1/2 inch),  cut it off from the edge, and the score lines 1" & 1-1/2".  Next cut from the other side through the score lines 5"& 4-1/2".  Then cut the tab at 4 inches at an angle on both sides.  SEE PHOTO BELOW

Mountain and valley fold the score lines to form the sides of the bag.  Adhere the flaps together.  Next add adhesive to the bottom tab, and fold up and adhere.

Embellish as you wish.

See how simple???

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Various retired DSP

INK:  Various colors to match the chosen DSP

STAMPS:  Just Sayin'

TOOLS:  Big Shot, Word Bubbles Framelits, Fast Fuse Adhesive, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, & various ribbons to match the DSP

Too many open tabs?

Ever see anything on Pinterest, Facebook, or Instagram, and say, "I can make that!"  Well, that's exactly what happened here.

I saw this sign and knew, not only could I make it, but I could make it better!  So here is my rendition of this really cool sign.

So here are all the details:

I made my own background paper.  I used watercolor paper, some reinkers, and aqua painter, and a spritzer with water.  I spritzed the paper real good, then using my aqua painter, with water in it, I picked up some reinker and started to scribble - in an orderly way.  I just kept add colors until I got the effect I was looking for.  Once the paper was dry (at least 24 hours), I sprayed the whole sheet with my homemade glimmer mist (our now retired Frost Shimmer paint and rubbing alcohol).  It gave is that subtle, yet gorgeous shimmer.

I used an electronic cutter to cut out the letters - simple, yet it took some time to glue the layers together.

I then used the butterfly punches to make the butterflies and embossed them.  I also used the spiral flower die to make the 2 flowers on the bottom corner of the frame.  I cut two out per flower (the same two colors  I used with the letters).

RECIPE:  NOTE:  Most of the  ink and card stock colors used in this project are now retired.

INK:  Pretty In Pink (retired) reinker, Baja Breeze (retired) reinker, & Concord Crush (retired) reinker

CARD STOCK: Orchid Opulence (retired) &  Elegant Eggplant

TOOLS:  Basic Jewels Rhinestones, Two-Way Glue Pen, Dimensionals, Big Shot, Spiral Flower Die, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder

NON-STAMPIN' UP! ITEMS:  Cricut e-cutter, hot glue gun, & 9 x 12 water color paper

Happy Valentine's Day

Boy, did February 14th creep up on me!  I've been so focused on my broken finger, and the upcoming surgery, that the date on the calendar escaped me.

Here in northeast Pennsylvania, we got hit with winter storm Pax yesterday.  We got about 24 inches of snow, on top of many inches already on the ground.  I spent both yesterday and today at home, really enjoying a couple of snow days.  Because stamping has been very challenging due to my finger, and it's been healing nicely, and the pain is almost gone, I gave stamping a try the last two days. It was a very long process to stamp simple cards, but I enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Today, being Valentine's Day, I had to stamp a card for my valentine - my WONDERFUL hubby!

This was a very simple card and would lend itself to mass production.  I took the layout idea from various cards I saw on Pinterest and added the "LOVE"from the Expressions Thinlits Dies.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Whisper White & Strawberry Slush

INKS:  Pink Pirouette, Smokey Slate, Coastal Cabana, & Strawberry Slush

STAMPS:  Happy Watercolor & Countless Sayings 1

TOOLS & ACCESSORIES:  Big Shot, Expressions Thinlits Dies, & 2-Way Glue Pen

A Cute Thank You Card

CASEd from Sarah Wood - found on Pinterest

The minute I saw this card on Pinterest, I knew I had to make it.  I not only made one, but we made this card in my Stampin' Nite class in August.

When I saw this card, I knew the Pretty Print Textured Embossing Folder would make the perfect background for this card.  I love the color combo of So Saffron, Pool Party, and Whisper White.

So Saffron card - 3 x 3 size

Pool Party card - 3 x 3 size

I used the Envelope Punch Board to make the matching envelopes.  I first cut the paper to size, then I stamped the flowers all over the paper.  Once I was done stamping, I then used the Envelope Punch Board to create the envelopes.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Whisper White, Pool Party, So Saffron

INKS:  Pool Party, So Saffron, & Baked Brown Sugar

STAMPS:  Flower Shop & Express Yourself

TOOLS:  Big Shot, Bitty Banners Framelits, Pansy Punch, Pretty Print Textured Embossing Folder, matching buttons, Dimensionals, Tombow Liquid Glue, Stamping Sponges, Bone Folder, & Envelope Punch Board

Faux Tile Technique

Sorry about the picture quality.  My camera had a mind of it's own the other day.

Oh, Pinterest, how I do love you!  You are so full of ideas.  I just can't get enough!

Pinterest is where I found the Faux Tile Technique.  I CASEd this card from Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Kathleen Wingerson.  I just fell in love with this technique the minute I saw it.

MINI TUTORAL

It's a simple technique.  All you do is stamp your images first.  Next you score your card stock (I used 2 inch increments) - going in two different directions.  Then make yourself a template so you can ink the bottoms of each square.  You decide on the intensity of the color.

The other day, I saw the same technique done by Stampin' Up! demonstrator, LeeAnn Greff.  She did her card in browns.  It's so pretty!

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Perfect Plum & Whisper White

INK:  Perfect Plum

STAMPS:  Bring on the Cake & Thoughts & Prayers

TOOLS:  Simply Scored score board, Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Large Basic Pearls, Stamping Sponge, Sponge Dauber, & Dimensionals

I just sponged the background on this card - all you do is start with the lightest color and work to the darkest color.  It was quick and simple, and the effect is definitely a WOW!

INKS:  So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, & Stazon Jet Black

STAMPS:  Serine Silhouettes & Teeny Tiny Wishes

CREATE banner

I saw this cute banner on the display boards while I was at the Convention in Utah.

I wish I knew who made it.  I would love to give that demo all the credit for it.

*UPDATED 8/8/13 - I found out who made this banner, Justin Krieger.  Thank you Justin for 1. this wonderful inspiration and 2. for finding my blog and letting me know it was you who made this banner.  I took so many pictures of this banner because I knew I HAD to make one!  I just love it!!!*

Anyways, the minute I saw it, I knew I HAD to make one.  So, once I got home and got back into a routine, I made one.  Justin made his using the new in-colors.  Here is mine:

I chose different colors - all pinks, of course!  I didn't have the same alphabet stamp set, so I used a different set I own.

I also added a little Dazzling Details to my banner.  Those cute swirls at the ends of each letter just screamed for some glitter.

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Very Vanilla

INKS:  (in banner color order) Primrose Petals, Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Rose Red, Strawberry Slush, & Raspberry Ripple

STAMPS:  Label Love*, Gorgeous Grunge, & Notable Alphabet

TOOLS:  Big Shot, Chalk Talk Framelits, Artisan Label Punch*, Dimensionals, Dazzling Details, & Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine

Mother of Pearl Swap Card

This was my swap card for the Stampin' Up! Baltimore Regional event this past weekend.  I CASEd the idea for the focal point from a card I found on Pinterest, by Vicky Hayes.  I loved the look of the embossed framelit.

The demonstrators at the regional event seemed to love this card.  When ladies saw it, they started to follow me to swap with me.  I had 50 of them swapped within 15 minutes.  I wished I had made more.  They went like hotcakes :O)

The oval center was done using the Mother of Pearl technique.  It's so easy and has such a stunning look.

MINI TUTORIAL - How to create the Mother of Pearl look

You will need the following:

  • a paper plate
  • a piece of plastic wrap (from your kitchen)
  • a paper towel
  • stamp image of choice
  • ink colors of choice (for background)
  • Stazon ink
  • Frost White Shimmer Paint
  • Stamping Sponges
  • Whisper White card stock
Procedure:

Place a small drop of Shimmer paint on the paper plate.  Dip a small piece of plastic wrap in the Frost White Shimmer paint and dab off on the paper plate.  On the Whisper White card stock, dab the plastic wrap, with the paint on it, all over the card stock - randomly - leave some white spaces.  Allow to dry.

Using ink colors of choice, and a Stamping Sponge, sponge the background, right over the Shimmer Paint.  Once done with sponging, use a paper towel and wipe the ink off of the Shimmer paint (it won't stick to the Shimmer Paint).

Ink up your stamp of choice, using Stazon ink, and stamp on top of your Mother of Peal background.

Such a pretty look!

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Crumb Cake & Whisper White

INKS:  Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, So Saffron, DAffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral, Pretty In Pink, Melon Mambo, Versa Mark, Stazon, & Frost White Shimmer Paint

STAMPS:  Serene Silhouettes & Perfectly Penned

TOOLS:  Big Shot, Labels Collection Framelits, Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Set, Stamping Sponges, Pewter Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, & Dimensionals

NON-SU! ITEMS:  paper plate, plastic wrap, & paper towel

I hope you give this technique a try.  It's so simple and the final product is so stunning.  Everyone will think it was so difficult to make.

Oh my goodness!!!!!  When I saw this bunny basket posted on the Stampin' Up! blog, I HAD to make it.

Carrie Cudney, a Stampin' Up! employee in the Curriculum Developing & Training department, made this bunny basket and posted on the Stampin' Up! Blog.  She did not give directions on how to make him, but she did list all the supplies she used.  He was so simple to make, you really don't need directions to make him.

So simple, that I made 5 more:

These cute little bunnies will be on my dinner table on Sunday.  I will fill the little baskets with each individual's favorite candy.

Here's the back view.  Isn't the little bunny tail just too cute?

RECIPE

CARD STOCK:  Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, More Amore Speciality DSP, & Twitterpated DSP

INKS:  Versa Mark, Primrose Petals, & Baha Breeze (marker)

STAMPS:  Distressed Dots, Itty Bitty Banners, & Designer Typeset (photopolymer set)

TOOLS:  Big Shot, Ovals Collection Framelits, Petite Purse Bigz Die, Owl Builder Punch, Small Heart Punch, Large Oval Punch, Small Oval Punch, Heat Tool, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, 3/16" Metallic Brads (2 gold ones), Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue, & Stampin' Dimensionals

What are you making, or did make, for your Easter table?  I'd love to see what you have come up with.  If you are looking for an idea, I hope you will consider these really cute bunnies.  Just by adjusting the size ovals you use, you can make this bunny in so many different sizes.  The possibilities are endless!
