Wrapped Nuggets & Matching Purse

     Well, we prepared, bought water, batteries, & canned food, put everything away and tied down the trampoline.  Hurricane Irene came through without too much fury - thank goodness.  We didn't even loose our power or get any water in the house.  We are so very lucky - as the river in the city and in the city where I work flooded and there are people who were directly affected by that.  Me and my kids had the 1st day of school off today, but other than that, it was just a wet and mildly windy Saturday night and most of the day Sunday.  The sun came out in enough time to set yesterday - and it was beautiful!

     Today's project is a cute chocolate nugget purse and matching wrapped nugget.  There are really cute and super quick and easy to make!  Below the recipe is a mini tutorial for you!  Enjoy!

     I CASEd this idea from Mary Fish and Nancy Riley.  These talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators graciously shared their ideas and I took that idea and came up with the above!

RECIPE:

CARD STOCK:  Concord Crush, Whisper White, & Designer Series Paper in Concord Crush


STAMPS:  It's a Wrap


INK:  Concord Crush


TOOLS:  1/4" grosgrain ribbon (Whisper White), paper trimmer with scoring tool (or the *NEW* Simply Scored scoring board coming out in September), bone folder, sticky strip, SNAIL adhesive, paper piercing tool, a brad of choice (I used a rhinestone brad), small punches of choice (I used Boho Blossoms & the flower punch from the Punch Pack), and chocolate nuggets (I used Hershey's)

MINI TUTORIAL:

PURSE:
Core Color Card Stock - 1-1/2" x 4-1/2"
Designer Series Paper - 1-1/4" x 4-1/4"
~Adhere the DSP to the core color card stock.
~Score: 1-3/16", 2-3/16", 3-1/2", & 3-3/4"
~Add Sticky Strip to 1/4" wide area (between 3-1/2" & 3-3/4")
~Adhere 5" of ribbon to Sticky Strip (assuring your ribbon isn't twisted)
~Fold to purse shape and use a little SNAIL to close the flap.
~Using a Paper Piercer (or 3/16" hole punch), create a hole through the front of purse.
~Add punched flowers & brad (or any decoration of choice) to "close" purse.

CHOCOLATE NUGGET:
2 choices:
~Wrap chocolate nugget in 1" x 3" of DSP
~Use "It's a Wrap" stamp set - stamp onto 1" x 3" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Adhere to nugget.

A purse - Stampin' UP! style

     Isn't this cute?

     The idea and pattern for this purse came from Jen Harper, a consultant from another direct sales company.  She was offering a class on how to make this really cute purse with notecards and I just had to learn how to make one.

UPDATED 3/28/11:  It's been pointed out that this purse is very similar to a purse that Becky Robert's has designed.  She is selling a tutorial for this purse.  Check it out.

     In hindsight, I should have used Very Vanilla card stock for the inside of the purse, the card, and the notecard.  Other than that, I really like how it turned out.

     This purse can hold 6 little cards, the 3x3 size, with envelopes.  The front pocket holds the tiny notecard you see on the right in the picture above.  The little notecard can be used for a little message for the recipient of this lovely purse full of cards.
