Flowers for the Teacher

     This is the flower bouquet I gave a co-worker whom I've been teaching 6th grade math with for the past 2 school years.  I won't be working with her next year, and I'm going to miss her terribly!  She taught me so much about teaching 6th grade math.  Hopefully next year I can do just 1/2 as well as she has done over the past 2 years.

     I purchased the tutorial to make these flowers from Leigha Rock.  She is AMAZING!  Every tutorial I've purchased has turned out stunning!  Everyone ewwws, ahhhas, and oh mys! over my flowers each time I use one of her tutorials.  I can't thank Leigha enough for her beautiful work, wonderful ideas, and well-written tutorials!  See the other bouquet I made HERE

     Most of the flowers are made using various punches.  The daisies are made using the now retired Stampin' Up! Daisy #2 Big Shot die.  Yes, those are real pencils all the way around the "vase".  Oh, and the "vase", well, that was a bit more challenging than I thought, but not a problem!  I used the middle section of a 20 oz. Pepsi bottle.  I cut the top and bottom off (if you look at a bottle, you'll see a natural place to cut it).  I then pushed that plastic tub into floral foam.  TADAH!  Instant vase!

Sparkly Christmas Card

Paper Roses

     This beautiful rose was inspired by Becky Jensen and Chera Wiest.  Both ladies have tutorials on their blogs, but I'll give you a quick explanation as to how I made it.  I used all Stampin' UP! products to make both roses and the wedding favor box featured in this post.

RECIPE:

CARD STOCK:  Very Vanilla
INK: Cameo Coral
TOOLS: 1" Circle Punch, Ornament Punch, Sticky Strip, & Stampin' Sponge

FREE TUTORIAL:

DIRECTIONS:

     Punch a 1" circle and 12 ornaments out of Very Vanilla card stock.  Ink the edges of both sides of all 12 ornaments.  I used 3 different items to roll my ornaments.  I used the handle of my stipple brush (about the size of 2-3 pencils) to roll the 4 outside petals.  I used my stylus (you can also use a pencil) to roll the 4 middle petals.  I used a wooden cuticle orange stick (mine is wooden) to roll the 4 tight inside petals.  Next, bend the ornament tops up towards the rolled center of each petal.  Next put a piece of Sticky Strip on the back of each ornament top.

     To assemble, take the first 4 petals (the ones open the most), and attach them to the 1" circle in the north, south, east, west positions.  Next, take the the next group of 4 petals (the medium rolled ones) and attach them inside the ones you just attached, off setting them (so they are in between the first four pedals).   Last, take the last four petals and attach them to the center.  By this step, it's a little tight, but still easy to get them in there.  I off set them from the last set I attached, while also putting them in to look like the middle of a rose.  Once you get to this step, you will easily be able to determine where you want the petals.

     For a larger, fuller rose, use a larger circle and more ornament punches.  The possibilities are endless.

Ornament Vase Punch #2

     I love the fact that the ornament punch can be used for other things besides just an ornament.  Here is another card I made using the ornament punch as a vase.

     I made this card for a demonstrator swap this month.  The theme was "Punches".  It went together quickly and simply, and it's very elegant.

Ornament Vase Punch #1

     I'm sorry for the lack of posts over the past month or so.  I finished my last class, last summer, for my Master's in Education.  This semester I have been working on my portfolio and presentation for graduation.   Most of this work is research-based, so I spent many hours doing research.  I turned in my portfolio a few weeks ago, and this Thursday I will will be giving my presentation.  Wish me luck!
